The workhorse — real volume for a full remodel or a roofing tear-off, and the size most Orange County homeowners and property owners land on.

Specifications
22 ft long × 7.5 ft wide × 4.5 ft high
20 cubic yards — about 6 pickup truck loads
3–4 tons in the flat rate
About 25 ft long × 10 ft wide, plus door swing
Flat-rate pricing across the lineup typically runs $350–$750, depending on size, debris type and rental length — delivery, pickup and disposal are all included, no hidden fees. Debris needs to stay below the container's top rail on every size so our driver can haul it safely, and that holds whether it lands on your driveway or, on the rare job that needs the street instead, wherever City of Orange Public Works confirms is allowed.
Is this the one?
If we could keep only one container size, this would be it. At 22 ft long × 7.5 ft wide × 4.5 ft high it carries a 3–4 ton allowance and handles about 6 pickup truck loads — enough for a genuine mixed remodel or a full roof tear-off, while still fitting a normal single-family driveway across Orange. Orange County has real, recent storm history worth planning around: on February 4–7, 2024, Orange County was one of eight Southern California counties to declare a state of emergency during a major atmospheric river event, with widespread heavy rain driving roof leaks, saturated ground and storm-damaged debris across the region. Whether the job is a re-roof or clearing storm-related damage — including the kind of structural debris that followed the real, documented March 28, 2014 magnitude-5.1 La Habra earthquake, one of our 8 service communities — it's exactly the kind of load a 20 yard's weight allowance is built to handle.
It's also the right call on a lot of jobs where people first think of a 30. General remodel debris — drywall, siding, flooring, cabinets — will usually fill a 20's weight allowance before it fills a 30's volume. On construction and demolition jobs, Orange's own Municipal Code 8.29.040 requires self-haulers to divert at least 65% of C&D debris from landfill, and OC Waste & Recycling runs a parallel 65% diversion standard on qualifying projects countywide — we sort clean concrete, metal and wood so that debris counts toward that standard rather than getting buried outright. Concrete, dirt, brick and heavier masonry are better routed to a 10 for that portion of the job — mixing dense material into a full 20 yard load is the fastest way to run over the included weight, and everything still needs to stay below the top rail.
Straight advice: The one to default to when you're genuinely unsure. It's rarely the wrong answer for a remodel or a roof — just route concrete, dirt, brick and block to a 10 instead, and keep everything below the top rail.
Compare
Same flat pricing model across all five. The real question is which weight allowance matches your material — dense debris, roofing, a remodel or a construction phase.

A genuine mixed remodel (drywall, flooring, siding, cabinets), a full roofing tear-off, or medium construction debris. It carries a 3–4 ton allowance and about 6 pickup truck loads — the size most Orange County jobs land on when the project is bigger than a single room but not a full gut renovation.
Often, yes. Orange County has real, documented storm and seismic history — the region declared a state of emergency during the February 2024 atmospheric river event, and the March 2014 M5.1 La Habra earthquake caused real structural damage — and a full re-roof or a heavy load of storm- or repair-related debris is exactly the kind of job the 20 yard's weight allowance is built to handle.
We sort loads with that standard in mind. Orange Municipal Code 8.29.040 requires self-haulers of construction and demolition debris to divert at least 65% from landfill, and OC Waste & Recycling runs a parallel 65% diversion program countywide — clean concrete, metal and wood from your load get routed toward recovery rather than buried outright.
